Mugello, Martin closes Aprilia double
Jorge Martin closed the Mugello weekend with two second places that lend themselves to different interpretations. The pre-Montmeló Martinator, in stunning form, would probably have gone home disappointed; however, the one who came out of the Catalan circuit amid a thousand crashes (and just as many controversies) can welcome this haul of 29 points.
The 2024 world champion had to give way to two masterful performances, yesterday that of Raul Fernandez and today that of Marco Bezzecchi. In the Italian GP this Bez could not be beaten: Martin understood this, settled for it, and now relaunches the world title challenge at Balaton Park, where he will try to close part of the -17 gap that separates him from the Romagna rider.
Martin’s words
“I envy Bezzecchi, for him winning at Mugello must be something unparalleled: I hope to experience these feelings myself in Spain. I didn’t want to leave the podium, it was really beautiful“, these are Martin’s words to Sky Sport MotoGP regarding the Mugello celebration for Bez‘s victory and Francesco Bagnaia’s podium.

“In the race I had some moments where I lost my chance: if I had managed to overtake Bezzecchi in the first part it would have been a different story. Anyway, I tried, I overtook Bagnaia, and it’s a beautiful second place after yesterday’s. They are all very good results, except Barcelona, we have to keep going like this“, he added.
