Bagnaia sixth in Austria
“Our potential is this“. In these few words Francesco Bagnaia summed up all his difficulties driving the Ducati GP26 after the 18th place in the Practice in Austria. After putting yesterday’s disappointment behind, however, another “Pecco” was seen on track, strong with a significantly improved feeling after just a few hours.

The two-time MotoGP world champion finished seventh in Qualifying after emerging from Q1, and in the Sprint he showed a consistent pace, confirming he deserved the position earned on the grid. At the checkered flag came a P6 which represents little in absolute terms but a lot relatively, also because these are “Pecco’s” first points back from the summer break.
Bagnaia’s words
“At the moment we are improving quite a bit. Yesterday was a negative day as a time attack, but as a pace we were not too bad“, this is Bagnaia’s comment to Sky Sport MotoGP. “Today we made another small step forward, we managed to improve in the single lap, even if we still lack something. The choice of the medium rear tire was made to better prepare the GP, we will see“.
“Tomorrow will be long and difficult, the approach to the race will be quite different and a lot will have to be managed in the first part“, he added. “In my opinion Acosta is currently superior and can afford to push more, but we can also make a step forward: fighting for P6-P7 can be a good goal“.
In the Riders’ World Championship, finally Bagnaia has moved his ranking bringing himself to 147, 11 less than the eighth position of Alex Marquez.
