Successful debut for the new Hypercar
Toyota christened the TR010 Hybrid by winning the 6 Hours of Imola. For the Japanese manufacturer, this is the 50th victory out of 100 races in which the Japanese team has competed in the WEC World Endurance Championship. Below are the words of Kamui Kobayashi, Mike Conway, and Nyck De Vries, the drivers of car #7, which climbed to the third step of the podium starting from the third row and thus not far from a one-two finish that would have represented a true ‘sweep’ for the competition, starting with Ferrari.

Kamui Kobayashi: “We tried everything possible to get the best result. It was a rather quiet race, but it wasn’t easy to find opportunities to gain positions. It was a challenge for us, but we managed to get both cars on the podium and start the season with a win, so I’m really happy. But most importantly, our car looks competitive, and that gives us confidence for the rest of the season. Congratulations to the entire team who worked hard on the TR010 Hybrid and for completing today’s race. Now we head to Spa, and we have a long season ahead of us. We will work hard and do our best to achieve all our goals.”
Mike Conway: “It’s a great result for the team, and I’m happy to be on the podium. I think it’s more than we expected. It’s fantastic that car #8 won and car #7 is on the podium. We gave our best and brought home a double podium. It’s a great start to the season, and we’ll look to build on this at Spa.”

Nyck De Vries: “The whole team did a fantastic job to have a great race and make all the right strategic decisions. Towards the end, we split the strategy between the two cars, and it worked well. I’m happy to start the season with a podium. We had to work hard for it, so thanks to the team for the great effort put in here this week right from the start of the Prologue.”
