The case of the yellow flag
Sky Italia asked Lewis Hamilton about the yellow flag in the last sector – referring to the pitlane entry – which ruined the final part of Charles Leclerc’s lap.
The Englishman seemed surprised: “I didn’t see the yellow flag, it didn’t penalize me at all. There was no yellow flag. There was a marshal holding it, from what I saw. Or at least, I didn’t see it.”
Hamilton had a brake problem
Lewis Hamilton then explained what he found strange about his SF-26 repaired after the accident in FP3: a brake balance problem.
These are the words of the seven-time world champion from Ferrari: “I’m disappointed in myself for Q3. I had a brake problem and didn’t want to damage it. But the guys did a great job fixing the car and preparing it for qualifying.”
Hamilton then concluded: “I didn’t have the same feelings when I got back in the car and it was my problem, my mistake. I still think I did my best. I thought I could have a couple of tenths more in Q3, but I did my best.”
Lewis Hamilton will start from the third row of the Belgian Grand Prix and will line up in fifth place on the grid next to Oscar Piastri of McLaren.
