F1 Spa, Qualifying Report
Suzuka, Monte Carlo, Silverstone, Spa. All tracks that exalt champions, some more on Saturday, some more on Sunday: Kimi Antonelli has dominated on all these circuits, and even among the Ardennes forests he takes a commanding pole position, the sixth of the season. The World Championship leader (1:44.361) beats Max Verstappen by three tenths, although the Dutchman was favored by the slipstream of Isack Hadjar in the last sector of the second time attack.

After a Q1 of total struggle, Antonelli settles in Q2, while in the last session he asserts an overwhelming superiority in the package generated with the W17. George Russell is once again crushed: half a second the gap between the two, and even in race pace the Friday indications were all for the Bolognese, clear favorite for tomorrow’s victory.
The Briton starts ahead of Charles Leclerc: a matter of fact, as the Monegasque slows down at the Bus Stop chicane for a yellow flag that only applied to the pit lane since Hadjar had been stopped by the marshals. The 24-thousandths gap suggests that if Leclerc had not lifted his foot (and he shouldn’t have) P3 would have been Ferrari’s. For the Monegasque, a mistake, which however does not significantly change the outlook for tomorrow, which sees the Red car in the big mix behind Antonelli and fighting for the podium.
Practically identical qualifying for the two Ferrari drivers, with Lewis Hamilton putting behind the FP3 crash and finishing fifth, just two thousandths behind his teammate.
