What a blast from Max to the 2026 F1
The on boards are merciless. The 2026 F1 cars with these power units do not seem suitable to race on a track like Spa. A legendary motorsport temple is a stage too high level for these cars in perpetual need of energy.
Max Verstappen in the press conference after the Belgian GP Qualifying did not mince words: “For most of the second sector you only run with the thermal engine, which perhaps has less power than an F3, with the difference that we have more downforce. I adapted, but it’s not what I love to do.”
“The car was capped, every time I improved a little. It’s something we will have to review, maybe some corners were too easy to take flat out“, Verstappen added.
The Dutch driver will start on the front row and for this he thanks the slipstream offered by his teammate Isack Hadjar: “I was full throttle, I would have even pushed him. I think without the slipstream I would have been 2-3 tenths slower. I will offer him a Red Bull.”
