An unpleasant incident

During Saturday morning FP3, Lewis Hamilton hardly crashed into the barriers and at Ferrari it was a race against time to replace the floor, gearbox, suspension, and wing to allow the seven-time world champion to appear at the start of qualifying.
The work was excellent and the Englishman secured fifth place in the Spa-Francorchamps qualifying, 0.534 seconds behind Antonelli’s pole and just 0.002 seconds behind teammate Charles Leclerc.

Hamilton admits some difficulties

The incident in the last free practice left some lingering issues in terms of feeling and setup, as the Englishman told Sky UK: “The car was different, but the guys did a fantastic job repairing the damage after FP3. This morning the car was working great and I felt really confident.”

Hamilton explained: “I think with the FP3 car I could have been third or something like that. In qualifying I was missing a couple of tenths. The car was not identical to the one then used in qualifying, but I did my best with what I had.”
