Fernandez: “Thanks to the physiotherapists, yesterday my back was locked. Unexpected podium, against Ogura there is nothing to do at the end of the GP”

Trackhouse, golden moment: Fernandez and Ogura still on the podium

Don’t wake Davide Brivio. For the third time in the last four races (and for two consecutive GPs), both Trackhouse riders are on the podium. Certainly, at Sachsenring Ai Ogura and Raul Fernandez had to bow their heads to the king Marc Marquez, but only the special feeling between #93 and the German track prevented the yellow-black RS-GP26s from repeating the splendid double at Assen.

After a complicated period, Fernandez continues to confirm himself among the protagonists and relaunches his ambitions in the championship, where the gap from Jorge Martin is significant (49 points) but not insurmountable with this continuity of performance.

The result at Sachsenring takes on even more value in light of the difficulties experienced in the hours before the race: Fernandez raced with a locked back after a problem during FP2 and yesterday missed media appointments: “I am really happy. Yesterday I had a problem on one of the bikes, there was a sudden movement that locked my entire back. After treatment with the physiotherapist, today I could move well. Thanks to the whole team of physiotherapists that MotoGP brings to the circuit,” this was his comment to Sky Sport MotoGP.

“Since Barcelona we haven’t touched anything on the bike. I feel good on the RS-GP26. Before Barcelona we found something on the front, which gives me a lot of feeling. I can leave the brake as before and it lets me ride hard,” he added. “Today against Ai there was nothing to do, I never thought I would get on the podium here. And then, fighting against Ogura at the end of the race is difficult, because he is light. At the start of the GP it takes him a little longer to warm up the tire, but afterwards he has more: nothing can be done, it’s genetics.”
