Dall’Igna: “Marquez, less spectacular style but optimized to do what is needed”

Dall'Igna: "Marquez, less spectacular style but optimized to do what is needed"

Ducati, a mid-season review

Certainly Ducati did not start as it had in recent seasons and found a decidedly competitive Aprilia on its path, which immediately broke away in the world championship.
In the last races, due to an evident downturn of the official Noale team composed of Jorge Martin and Marco Bezzecchi, the men led by Gigi Dall’Igna regained strength, so much so that they greatly reduced the wide gap in the standings thanks to 3 wins in the last 4 races by Marquez.

In the riders’ world championship Marquez and Di Giannantonio are at -18 and -24 from leader Martin; in the constructors’ championship Ducati has reduced the deficit to -11; in the teams’ championship Ducati Lenovo is third, 61 points behind Aprilia Racing and also behind Trackhouse – 20 points ahead.

Dall’Igna’s analysis, congratulating Marc Marquez

In the usual review on his LinkedIn page, Ducati Corse general manager Gigi Dall’Igna commented on what was seen on track last weekend at Sachsenring: Last weekend was absolutely perfect, with yet another masterpiece delivered by a sparkling Marc: pole position, 19th Sprint win, the GP race with the fastest lap and, moreover, leading from start to finish both Saturday and Sunday. An absolute dominance that is also a triumph of incredible statistics: of his 13 total wins on this circuit – his true kingdom – 10 were achieved in MotoGP, securing him a place in history and equaling a legend like Giacomo Agostini.”

Dall’Igna wanted to focus on the ‘new’ Marc Marquez seen in this part of 2026: He sets the pace with clean and fast riding, managing the bike without ever overdoing it, consistent and solid as usual: the talent of a true champion who never stops refining his mastery, also with a style that, at first glance, is less spectacular but optimized to do what is needed, when needed, without taking unnecessary risks and with sublime elegance. This is his third win in the last four races and his second Sprint-GP double, after the one in Hungary. I think of Marc who after Mugello was 102 points behind the leader… The post-operative period could not have gone better: his bike has brilliantly returned to the track and his smile is back in the pits – we are all absolutely happy about it.”

Dall’Igna urges the team for the comeback

The number one at the Ducati box then highlighted the regret for the crashes of Alex Marquez and Di Giannantonio, who could have replicated “the brilliant all-Ducati podium on Saturday”, and judged Bagnaia’s race as “damage limitation after a drop in performance mid-race.”
Dall’Igna urged the team to believe: “The standings have been turned upside down and the World Championship is again completely open for all the top riders, and not only for them. We count five contenders within just 24 points. It is a long season, as we have always said, in which anything can happen to anyone, as we have clearly seen. Yes, it is essential never to take anything for granted and to keep fighting until the end. And this year it is even more important. Have a good summer break to all teams and riders. See you all at the British Grand Prix weekend, ready to enjoy the second half of such an exciting and spectacular championship, whatever the outcome.”
