Just before the 6 Hours of Imola, the event that will kick off the WEC 2026 championship, an all-Italian official announcement came from Aston Martin: Mattia Drudi is, in fact, the new reserve driver of the Valkyrie for WEC and IMSA. The Romagna native will continue his commitment in GT3 with the Vantages, but if necessary, he will be the first to replace the official drivers in the two mentioned championships.

The progress
Already last November, Drudi had particularly impressed Aston Martin during the Rookie Tests held in Bahrain, earning promotion to the GT category. The team’s decision was also favored by the recent victory in the GT World Challenge Europe at Paul Ricard with the Aston Martin Vantage AMR GT3 EVO, all while awaiting participation in the 6 Hours of Imola with the Vantage LMGT3 of the Heart of Racing team.
