Ferrari Luce, a design that sparks debate

Ferrari Luce stands out for a design approach that is deliberately unconventional. Indeed, alongside the design, a path was pursued to emphasize its uniqueness also on the technological level of Maranello’s first electric car. This was achieved through the idea of involving a studio outside the perimeter of the Ferrari Design Studio. The creative direction was entrusted to an entity like LoveFrom, a collective of creatives called to bring a luxury-oriented perspective to the project. With an unconventional and multidisciplinary approach, aimed at fostering cross-pollination between languages and skills.

Ferrari Luce: style outside the box

The collaboration found a balance point in the concept of creative freedom, while maintaining a strong coherence with Ferrari’s identity. In this sense, LoveFrom worked with philosophical and design autonomy. They arrived at proposing an overall vision that also includes areas beyond just car design. The research, according to the development path, focused on an idea of simplification. Smooth and pure forms, with references to closed shapes and essential volumes, useful to define a disruptive but coherent aesthetic. Subsequently, in the fine-tuning phase, the concept was developed together with the Ferrari Design Studio to align it with functional targets, architectural constraints, and the requirements necessary for a series-produced road sports car.

A design that sparks discussion

From the external point of view, electric propulsion allows imagining a new architecture capable of housing four doors and five seats. This is the second Ferrari with a four-door configuration and the first able to offer five seats. A distinctive element is the so-called “glass house”: a glazing of unprecedented purity, similar to a shell, which extends below the beltline to the ends of the vehicle. The front and rear aerodynamic wings, positioned suspended above and around the silhouette of the glass house, help define a unique and compact shape. Furthermore, attention to aerodynamics is also reflected in the surfaces, designed to be smooth, continuous, and without visible interruptions.

Technological cockpit

Also, the cockpit and technological choices contribute to strengthening the idea of formal continuity and maximum comfort. Inside, Luce appears more spacious than the external proportions suggest, with a bright and airy area designed to offer flexibility and livability in everyday use conditions. Among the details, the door opening highlights a symmetrical and tapered silhouette, while the transparent panels integrate part of the primary surfaces and optical elements, reducing the perception of lights when the vehicle is off. Regarding materials and glazed surfaces, Ferrari and LoveFrom collaborated with Corning to develop advanced engineered glass, capable of addressing specific technical challenges related to composition and forming, with an extension of their use also in internal areas of the cockpit. Finally, the launch colors Azzurro la Plata, Giallo Luce, Rosso Dino, Bianco Artico, and Rosso Fiammante aim to enhance a contemporary character, with particular attention to the specific yellow developed ad hoc, inspired by the historic yellow of the Ferrari logo.
