And finally the ADUO arrives
After the first five rounds of the 2026 Formula 1 World Championship, Mercedes firmly leads the constructors’ standings. The W17 is the best car on the track and the 72-point lead so far accumulated over Ferrari – the closest pursuer – and the 113 over McLaren, prove it beyond doubt.
Next week the FIA will announce the engine manufacturers who will be able to benefit from the advantages of the ADUO and Ferrari hopes to be able to climb back up, since Maranello is one of the teams most affected on the power unit side.

Antonelli on Ferrari’s recovery
Asked on the sidelines of the Bandini Trophy presentation, Andrea Kimi Antonelli spoke precisely about Maranello’s chances of recovery: “We will see the teams that will receive the ADUO. Surely Ferrari seems to be one of them. If they manage to develop the engine they will get closer, because anyway in terms of chassis they are also well placed.”
There is much talk about the chassis qualities of the Ferrari SF-26, but Antonelli wanted to strongly emphasize the goodness of his Mercedes: “The team is doing a great job. Unfortunately many people only talk about the engine, but I have to say that the chassis is really good too. We are fast in corners and we wear the tires little, so I have to say that also in terms of chassis we are very well placed.”

And about Ferrari he added, in the long interview reported by colleagues from Bologna Today: “In terms of chassis it is well placed, it seems they struggle a bit more in the race when there is degradation. If they manage to bring a developed engine they will get closer. But it will not be easy, because finding more power in an engine is never simple and it takes some time, but if they manage to find the right balance, they will get very close and could worry us”, Antonelli concluded.
