From Spain to Spain, for this French veteran, who in Barcelona suffered a rupture of the ligaments in his left knee after getting trapped in the tail of Francesco Bagnaia’s bike. Zarco’s sporting comeback was undoubtedly the most beautiful story of the weekend: the Honda rider from Lucio Cecchinello’s team recounted it like this three months later.
Zarco’s words
“The first month was calmer because I moved less, but time passed very quickly. As soon as I could move, everything sped up even more. I had to stay active to work on the knee, while at the same time trying not to let it swell. Then I went to physiotherapy and so my days were full from 8 to 20“, these were his words in an interview with AUTOHebdo.

“Everything happened very quickly in the accident. MotoGP was not my immediate thought. I was mainly afraid of not being able to walk anymore. Since I had never had such a serious injury before, I first had to understand the situation and take care of myself“, he added. “Now that I am back, missing six races almost made me want to do another 22. I actually told myself ‘Why not continue in 2028?’. Maybe I was tired before, but this break made me realize it might be worth continuing“.
The Frenchman also recovered thanks to top-level medical assistance, including the supervision of Dr. Bertrand Sonnery-Cottet (specialized in treating athletes’ knees), the advice of Dr. Claudio Costa, and the help of the MotoGP medical team.
