All-round crisis

The practice starts during and at the end of FP1 in Buriram were quite problematic, and catching the eye was Fabio Quartararo because in both starts attempted by the Frenchman’s Yamaha M1, a conspicuous trail of smoke unfurled.

The 2021 world champion finished FP1 in 18th position, more than a second and a tenth behind Marco Bezzecchi, highlighting particular problems in Turn-4 and in Turn-5.

In addition, the starts were nothing short of spectacular, certainly not to the joy of El Diablo. Below are the images.

Putting the power down during standing starts was also a problem for Marc Marquez and Marco Bezzecchi; the latter left a conspicuous streak of rubber on the asphalt without, however, reaching such a level of wheelspin as to lose grip.

We will see if at the end of the Practice the track improves enough in terms of grip; certainly, the technicians will also adjust the software accordingly after what was observed during FP1.
