2015, an unforgettable year
If after ten years people are still talking about what happened in the 2015 world championship of MotoGP, whatever one thinks, it means that what was seen on the track was definitely hard to forget. A rivalry – the one between Jorge Lorenzo, Valentino Rossi and Marc Marquez – that experienced its harshest and most exasperated season, with the public clearly divided, bringing extremely toxic fandom to the World Championship, something the world of two wheels was not used to seeing.

Lorenzo talks about toxic fandom
In his podcast Duralavida, Jorge Lorenzo recalled this very aspect: “When Rossi and I were rivals, the fans were very divided. There was hatred. A hatred like what you see in football. That season was super dramatic and intense, in terms of emotions and rivalry. Nothing like the current ones. Before, you would enter the paddock and feel the rivalry between Rossi, Lorenzo and Marquez.”

The Spanish champion then recalled the final race in Valencia: “Marquez and I finished first and second and 80% of the Spanish crowd booed us because they were ‘Rossisti’. And even hours later, when we were celebrating the world title in the motorhome with family and friends, there were 50 fans behind the fences insulting my mother and saying we had stolen the world championship. It was truly horrible. But it is the title I am most proud of, because I was never leading the championship until the last race and I fought and suffered until the end”, Lorenzo concluded.
