Let’s be honest: how many media outlets in recent weeks have given space to criticisms of the new regulations? And how many have reported the drivers’ analyses of the changes made in Miami?
It is no secret that many are striving to highlight and praise the glass half full, but it is still a half glass (and calling it half full is already generous…).
The drivers agreed on the small step forward, but warned about two non-negligible aspects: pushing to the limit in qualifying remains penalizing and overtaking remains dangerous due to speed differences. And these are two issues that cannot be silenced for long, pretending that everything has been fixed, especially the second which raises an important safety issue.

Wolff criticizes the critics
“If there is even one person complaining about the Miami race, I honestly think they should hide“, thundered Toto Wolff of Mercedes in the meeting with journalists.
The Austrian manager further explained his thoughts: “Obviously this circuit is a bit easier, it doesn’t require much energy. There are good and bad races, but this was great publicity for F1.”

In short, Wolff has had enough of the critics: “Anyone talking about changing the engine regulations in the short term should question their way of evaluating F1. The race was truly spectacular, with battles for first place and fights in the midfield. Can we modify and optimize the rules in the medium term? I absolutely think yes, we will never be against making the show even better. I think about the straight-line mode, it still needs more speed and we have to be brave in doing so. In the medium term, we are not against changes, maybe getting more performance from the internal combustion engine. That would be fantastic, but it requires some notice time,” he explained in statements collected by Motorsport.
