Volkswagen plans to further reduce its production capacity by one million cars. This was announced by the CEO of the German giant, Oliver Blume, who was featured in an interview with the business magazine Manager. “On the one hand, we are investing massively in products. At the same time, we have already taken far-reaching measures,” Blume stated.

Making it known that these measures might not be enough: “We are evaluating the possibility of further reducing production capacity by one million units to reflect the global market situation.” Numbers are therefore changing: Volkswagen aims to reduce production capacity to 9 million cars per year worldwide, compared to the initial 12 million.
