Tesla is forced to a massive recall in China. It’s not the batteries’ fault, nor the motors’. But the doors. That’s right: the American giant, along with at least eight other car manufacturers, will recall a total of about 4.27 million EV vehicles to intervene on the electrical systems of the handles. According to Ansa, in case of an accident and power loss, these could prevent occupants from quickly exiting the cabin and hinder rescue efforts.

Massive Tesla recall in China
Of the nearly 4.5 million electric vehicles subject to the recall, about 3 million are Tesla-branded. So how will the company led by Elon Musk intervene? For the affected vehicles, the American company plans a software update that, in case of an accident, will automatically lower the windows. And that’s not all: labels will also be applied to indicate to occupants the position of the manual emergency door opening devices.
Tough times in Asia
As mentioned, this recall concerns Tesla but not only. After the American giant, the operation with the largest number of vehicles under observation concerns Xiaomi, with 390,435 SU7 electric sedans. Also targeted is Zhejiang Leapmotor Technology, a company partly owned by Stellantis, which will recall 371,200 cars. Not a “calm” period for Tesla in China: just a few days ago, the company announced another recall in the Asian country, this time of about 2.7 million vehicles, to strengthen systems designed to monitor driver attention during the use of driver assistance technologies and reduce the risk of collisions.
