For the first time since the Miami Grand Prix, which took place at the beginning of May, Racing Bulls had to face a result that interrupted a long positive streak: both drivers did not reach the points zone. For four consecutive races, both Lindblad and Lawson had managed to finish even in the top ten in the same GP, but in the last race at Zandvoort this did not happen for either the Swede or Yuki Tsunoda, called up as an official driver by the Faenza team to replace Lawson.

At Zandvoort the Japanese driver took the seat left free by Lawson, who in turn moved to Red Bull to replace Hadjar (injured wrist before the Dutch GP), finishing in 11th position just ahead of Lindblad: “I did everything I could and had a lot of fun – Tsunoda commented – I missed being on track, racing wheel to wheel and making overtakes, so it was fantastic to relive that experience. We were very close to the points and missed them by a whisker, which is a shame, but overall it was an incredible few days. The team supported me a lot during the week and I managed to catch up quite quickly, so a huge thanks to everyone for giving me this opportunity. I will carry unforgettable memories of this weekend with me. Above all, I hope Isack recovers soon.”

12th place therefore for Lindblad, author of a good performance however spoiled by a penalty that affected his race: “It’s a shame. We had a good start, but we received a drive-through for breaking a yellow flag, which effectively took us out of the fight for the rest of the race. With all the debris flying on the track, I focused only on maintaining my line and avoiding any obstacles. Once restarted, I think it was one of the best races I have done this year in terms of pace, commitment in overtaking and helping the team when possible. Overall I think we made good progress, we made changes that helped us become more competitive as the weekend went on. It’s disappointing not to have brought home points, but now we will focus on preparing for the next race in Monza.”
