Tesla has announced that its first electric Semi truck has started coming off the “high volume” production line, strongly relaunching its roadmap towards large-scale production. The company communicated this in a post on the X platform, confirming the goal of starting mass production of several new products in 2026. In this context, the new Semi represents a key piece for the industrial expansion strategy of the electric vehicle manufacturer.

Tesla Semi, progress in production
The Tesla Semi is a fully electric truck designed for long-haul freight transport. According to the information on the US manufacturer’s website, the Long Range version can travel up to about 800 kilometers on a single charge. The company had also indicated that deliveries should start this year, making the production progress a concrete step from initial announcements and presentations towards the operational market phase. The Semi project, first presented in 2017, is thus approaching an industrial maturity phase that Tesla considers fundamental.

Other projects underway
The reference to 2026, however, does not only concern the Semi. During the latest earnings conference, the company reiterated that mass production of Cybercab robotaxis and the Megapack 3 battery system should start in the same year. According to previously reported information, the new Cybercab should be produced in Texas and the Semi in Nevada, demonstrating a geographical distribution of investments. In the background is also the industrial plan announced in January, when Tesla communicated its intention to more than double capital expenditure to over 20 billion dollars, with resources focused on truck plants, autonomous Cybercab vehicles, humanoid robots Optimus, battery production, and the lithium supply chain.
