Still behind
From the Japanese GP to the last one held in Miami, there have been no significant improvements at Aston Martin. Even at the end of the American weekend, the Silverstone team once again left the street circuit without scoring any points, with results that do not allow them to leave the last position in the Constructors’ standings. However, compared to the first three races of this season, there has been a small but notable difference.

No retirements
For the first time, in fact, both Fernando Alonso and teammate Lance Stroll finished the GP. The Spaniard, after two consecutive retirements and 18th place in Suzuka, achieved his best performance with 15th place, prevailing at the end over Sergio Perez: “It is positive that both cars finished the race for the first time this season – commented the two-time world champion – we are not yet where we want to be, but this weekend allowed us to gather more data that we can analyze in the coming weeks, before Canada. We have made obvious progress in terms of reliability, now our focus shifts to performance. We must continue to work and be patient as a team.”
Only 17th and second to last was teammate Lance Stroll, who, awaiting his home GP in Canada, saw the checkered flag from his car for the first time: “It is the first time this season that both cars have finished a race, so this is a positive aspect to take from Miami. We managed to cover more kilometers with the car and experienced fewer vibrations this weekend. In hindsight, our tire strategy did not work, but from a reliability point of view, we have taken a step in the right direction. Now we need to work on performance issues. There are many areas where we can improve.”
