The next 100% electric BMW M3, scheduled for 2027, and the new generation of the gasoline M3 are expected to share a very close setup. According to Autocar, they will essentially be “twins” and will also have a similar price. The electric version, whose final name has not yet been announced, will be developed based on the recent i3. And will leverage the new Neue Klasse electric architecture. It will therefore aim for an “M” identity that is not limited to declared performance but aims to reproduce the typical driving experience of the German brand’s sports division.

The new BMW M3 will also be electric
On the technical side, the electric M3 is described as an extremely extreme car. Thanks to four electric motors, one for each wheel, it would be capable of delivering almost 1,000 HP. Not just numbers on a spec sheet: the high power would be combined with a very precise control system to maintain setup, responsiveness, and dynamics consistent with the M heritage. For this reason, the car has already been spotted during numerous tests. Evidence of a project in an advanced stage of development and fine-tuning on the road and in real conditions.

Price similar to the combustion counterpart
At the same time, BMW does not intend to “close” with tradition. The internal combustion M3 will be renewed for a new generation continuing to use the CLAR platform of the current 3 Series. But with a restyling designed to align with the Neue Klasse stylistic language. The strategy would therefore be twofold: to have electric and gasoline coexist, offering customers the possibility to choose, with different differences that will lead to a non-identical design in some areas, while remaining recognizable as a single family.
