Antonelli and Norris in the car
It was the current championship leader Kimi Antonelli and the reigning champion Lando Norris who completed the Pirelli development test organized at the Nürburgring, with the support of Mercedes and McLaren. The average asphalt temperature was 26°C while the air temperature was around 14°C.

In the first phase of the program, the two drivers continued the work started by their respective teammates on the structural variants of the C3 compound, completing several runs of eight laps each. In the last hours on track, the two softer compounds were also tested, with longer runs. Antonelli tried the C4, while Norris’s car was fitted with the C5.
Over 2000 km in two days
The British driver completed a total of 108 laps, equal to 556 kilometers, while the Italian covered 109 laps for a total of 561 kilometers. The best times of the day were 1’33’’640 for the McLaren driver and 1’32’’990 for the Mercedes driver. On the Eifel track, therefore, 2106 kilometers were covered in two days.

The next appointment for the Pirelli development tests is scheduled for mid-May at Magny-Cours, where wet tire tests will be carried out. The slick compounds for the next season will return to the track in Barcelona, after the Grand Prix weekend.
