The emotions of the World Rally Championship will officially return to Great Britain starting from next season. Eight years after the last event held in Wales, in 2019, the WRC will this time arrive in Aberdeen, for what will be a whole event organized in Scotland. Never before has this country hosted the championship from the first to the last stage, although it only hosted some stages valid for the Rally of Great Britain last time in 1995.
At present, the dates on which the special stages will take place are not yet clear, but what is certain is the agreement reached between Motorsport UK, WRC Promoter and the Scottish government, with the support of the Aberdeen City and Aberdeenshire councils, with a three-year contract valid from 2027. The plan, in any case, would be to include the new Scottish rally in the autumn period, with the headquarters and service park facilities located in the modern P&J Live facility in Aberdeen. The stages, moreover, will take place in the regions of Aberdeenshire and Moray.
