Mitsubishi has announced that the Pajero will return next autumn as an SUV, with a world premiere scheduled for the autumn season. The return concerns a model that, historically born and raised as an off-road vehicle, over the years has been a reference for those looking for robustness and real ability to tackle difficult routes. Despite its importance, the Pajero was withdrawn from the foreign market in 2021, making this new chapter even more awaited by enthusiasts.

Mitsubishi Pajero returns in autumn
The technical architecture of the project will be linked to a ladder frame chassis derived from the Triton pickup platform. The goal is to maintain the solidity and resistance typical of “adventure” vehicles. However, this base will be followed by a specific development of the suspension and cabin, designed to guarantee not only the usual off-road qualities but also a more advanced driving comfort and a more refined driving experience for everyday use. Essentially, the new generation of Pajero is unveiled as a flagship model capable of embodying the spirit of exploration of the Japanese brand and its determination to face new challenges.
Specific development of suspension and cabin
The new course fits into a long and significant history. Mitsubishi Pajero debuted in 1982 and, through four generations, has faced obstacles also in competitive fields. This is demonstrated by 12 Dakar victories, including 7 consecutive ones. From a commercial point of view, the model has also exceeded 3.25 million units sold in over 170 countries, confirming itself as a global icon. Even in terms of initial offerings, success came thanks to the variety of versions (short wheelbase 3-door and 2.0/2.6 petrol engines and 2.3 naturally aspirated diesel, with long wheelbase 5-door from 1983 and 2.0 petrol and 2.3 turbo diesel engines). The presence of a steel ladder frame structure, typical of true off-road vehicles, did not prevent achieving an adequate level of comfort even in everyday use.
