The new F1 regulations under scrutiny
The first three GPs of the 2026 World Championship have given clear answers: the new F1, while showing eventful races, is in urgent need of changes. And these changes will begin to be discussed in the key meeting tomorrow in London, where the proposals that will then be put to a vote on April 20 will be presented.

As always happens in these cases, the desire to change the rules depends on the competitiveness of one’s own team. This time, however, all teams seem to agree on at least one aspect: qualifying needs to be improved, which must return to being a spectacle where the courage of drivers to push to the limit in every corner is rewarded. This was admitted by Red Bull team principal Laurent Mekies.

“The race format provided by these regulations may or may not be liked. However, I think the fundamental thing is to ensure that the best drivers remain at the top“, these are the words of the Frenchman. “We must focus our attention on going full throttle in qualifying, traveling as fast as possible in corners and braking as late as possible. We are working on this with all stakeholders“.

“There isn’t much to improve. I think the regulations have produced incredible and surprising races. There are aspects we want to improve because we want to go full throttle on Saturday. But we have all the tools to ensure we reach the right balance“, he added.
