Marc Marquez continues to update the record book even in a season in which, due to his precarious physical condition, he has struggled more than expected to consistently achieve great results. Yet in Aragon the nine-time world champion – fully in contention for ‘the tenth’ – claimed his fifth seasonal victory in a Sprint, replicating the triumphs he had already achieved in the short race at MotorLand in 2024 and 2025; in both editions the Sunday GP win also followed.

With the gold medal won this afternoon Marquez has become – or rather, has returned to being – the most successful rider in the history of Sprint races, which were introduced in MotoGP in 2023. #93 signed his 20th career Saturday win, edging out Jorge Martin, who is stuck at 19 and who this year had won at Austin, Le Mans, and Silverstone. Francesco Bagnaia is now further behind, stuck at 14.

The head-to-head between Marquez and Martin – who had already surpassed and re-surpassed each other in the all-time ranking earlier this season, with Martin having caught up with #93 again after Silverstone – will likely continue until the end of the season. However, at stake is not only the role of ‘king of the Sprints’, but also and above all the 2026 World Championship.
