Necessary operation
“The most positive thing for me is that when I finished the Sprint, I was able to write notes. It sounds like a joke, but in the last races, after the Sprint, I couldn’t write on a sheet because my hands were shaking“. In this way, saying with a smile something with quite a strong emotional impact, Marc Marquez made the journalists present during the media scrum after the Mugello Sprint understand why it was so necessary for him to undergo that operation on his right shoulder, operated on together with the right foot after the Jerez accident.
An operation that is allowing the nine-time world champion to regain greater sensitivity on the bike, even though obviously the ideal physical condition is very far away. “This means that the nerves are returning to normal, now I just have to stay in the saddle and continue what we did today”, added #93.
I’m not having fun, but…
Marquez ultimately finished the Sprint in fifth position, second among the Ducatis, after also being the protagonist of a perfect start that incredibly put him in the lead: “It was like a déjà vu of 2025 – joked the Spaniard – but it only lasted two corners. By the third Raul Fernandez had already passed me”. The real flash of Marquez’s class was shown in qualifying, signing a surprising fourth time: “In qualifying, in a single fast lap, I rode well. There I obviously feel I can do something more, while where I feel more limitations is in race distance or consecutive laps, because energy drops. I tried in FP3 to do four or five consecutive laps and I saw that I was struggling a lot. Also in race pace I tried to reach my 100% but not always, because otherwise I know I will lose in the last laps what I gained at the start. Yesterday I felt pain in the shoulder, today I don’t feel any particular pain, but I just feel a lack of energy“.
“If from Brno I will be better as Tardozzi says? I don’t know. Obviously I would like it to be so, but I can’t know. The most important thing now is to reach my 100% every day. This is the best way to improve. But it is true that at this moment riding a bike and driving is real work. I’m not having fun, because I don’t enjoy riding a bike in these conditions, but it is real work to improve for the future and to be able to have fun again in the future“, concluded the reigning world champion.
