The streak of Luca Marini staying in the points zone in this championship’s races continues uninterrupted, as from the first GP of the season in Thailand to the last one held in Great Britain, he has always remained among the top fifteen riding his Honda. Specifically at Silverstone, the 29-year-old finished in 9th place, despite a less than satisfactory start that forced him to make a comeback.

Start: the weak point
A mission accomplished nonetheless for #10, who established himself as the best Honda rider, as well as being the first from the Japanese manufacturer in the provisional world standings: “The race was more or less as expected, considering the starting position. I didn’t have a brilliant start and took a long time to overtake Morbidelli, which gave us more work to do. It’s a recurring story and highlights why we need to focus on improving qualifying. I’m really satisfied with how I’m riding. I feel I’m improving in overtaking and managing to recover ground faster, which is positive. I’m happy to be the best Honda again, that’s our goal every weekend. Thanks to the guys on my team for the work done this weekend, once again Sunday was our best day of the weekend.”

Crash on the first lap without blame
A much more unfortunate race, on the other hand, for teammate Joan Mir. During the first lap, the Spaniard fell at turn 7 following contact with Yamaha compatriot Alex Rins, thus ending his GP: “Honestly, I don’t really know what happened – he explained – I was hit from behind and then I fell, it was just a racing incident, so the rider involved is not important. My start was good and I aimed to stay calm on the medium tire. It’s a pity we couldn’t see what we could have done during the long race. The next stop is Aragon, a circuit I really like, so let’s focus on doing something good.”
