On June 13, 2026, the great event of the 94th edition of the 24 Hours of Le Mans will take place, but for a team present in the Hypercar class, the scheduled race will mean an absolute debut. The debut will be for the Genesis Magma Racing team, which, while awaiting the big event, opened the doors of its GMR-001 LMDh to a motorsport legend: Jacky Ickx.

Consultant and ambassador of the Genesis program in the WEC, the former Belgian driver was awarded by the Korean team for his contribution, with the 81-year-old completing several laps behind the wheel of the Hypercar on the Paul Ricard circuit. A unique experience for Ickx, with the prototype’s livery recalling the colors of his helmet.

The great emotions
Twice Formula 1 vice-world champion and six-time winner of the 24 Hours of Le Mans (second in the all-time winners list by number of victories), Ickx expressed all his emotion: “It’s indescribable. When I opened that door, I saw something I did not expect at all. I discovered the Genesis Magma Racing hypercar, but in a dark blue livery with a white stripe, which was incredibly exciting. I believe I am living the most important moment of my life because I am sharing my passion for motor racing with other people. What the team offered me here was absolutely unique.” Ickx then concluded with a joke: “You can dream, and dreams can come true, but I promise you I won’t race next year!”
