Sprint Miami, Bortoleto disqualified
The weekend in Florida starts very badly for Audi. In Miami, Nico Hülkenberg could not take part in the Sprint due to a technical problem with the R26 during the reconnaissance lap, while Gabriel Bortoleto was disqualified for an irregularity in the power unit.

The engine of Audi #5 was found non-compliant with the regulations for exceeding the intake air pressure limit, which can never be greater than 4.8 bar according to article C5.3.2 of the technical regulations.

“The Audi representatives acknowledged that the technical delegate’s considerations were correct. As a mitigating factor, Audi explained that this happened in only one lap, when temperatures rose more than expected“, the note reads. “As soon as the situation became evident, they took measures to bring the pressure back within the limits set by the regulations. Although it is acknowledged that they took measures to bring the car into compliance, the regulations clearly state that the car must be compliant at all times, which it was not“.

So many technical problems
This is certainly not the first technical problem Audi has encountered in this start of its Formula 1 adventure. In Australia, Hülkenberg did not start due to a hydraulic problem, the same fate in China for Bortoleto. The German also retired from the Shanghai Sprint due to a power unit issue.
