20:42 – The final standings of the 2026 Miami GP, which thus ends on a very negative note for Ferrari, which returns home with sixth and seventh place. It remains to be understood whether Leclerc had technical problems or if the slow last lap was only the result of the spin and the slight contact with the barriers following his spin.

20:40 – So Leclerc lost three positions in the last two laps, with Russell closing a very negative weekend managing at least to collect an unexpected fourth place, with two overtakes made precisely in the final lap.

20:39 – Checkered flag for Andrea Kimi Antonelli who celebrates his third consecutive victory! Dramatic finish instead for Leclerc, who tried to defend himself with his nails from Russell, even with contact at the last corner, and then also lost fifth place to Max Verstappen!

20:38 – Unbelievable! Leclerc spun alone in the first sector’s snake. The Monegasque is going slow, but at this point it seems he has a technical problem, and that this is the reason why Piastri overtook him so easily.

20:37 – Leclerc lost third place to Oscar Piastri on the long straight towards turn 17!

20:36 – Piastri tries on the outside towards turn 11, but Leclerc defends well and keeps the podium. Meanwhile Norris is informed of a potential rear wing problem and is told via radio to be very careful with the car’s behavior.

20:35 – Antonelli’s penultimate lap begins, with Leclerc having to watch his back from Oscar Piastri who has already made his move! The Australian’s McLaren is going very fast in this finale, and seems to have more.

20:34 – Russell tries to attack Verstappen, but Max defends from his sworn enemy with… contact! George has damage to the wing and the Dutchman complains: “He hit my tire“.

20:33 – Standings at lap 55/57: watch out for Russell who is glued to Verstappen, but also for Piastri who is 7 tenths behind Leclerc!

20:32 – Drivers are informed of the possibility of some raindrops arriving in these final laps, but by now no one believes it anymore.

20:30 – Five laps to go and Norris is still 2 seconds behind Antonelli, with Russell in turn bringing the gap to Verstappen to 2 seconds. In the points zone, these are the two potentially active duels in the next laps.

20:29 – Russell has a surge of pride: “In the last two laps, suddenly, the car started to go well“. His target can be Verstappen, fifth with a 3-second advantage.

20:27 – Antonelli’s moment of crisis seems a bit resolved again, now with a 2.2-second advantage over Norris. The third consecutive victory of the Italian talent is approaching, who can extend his lead in the standings given Russell’s difficult moment.

20:25 – Kimi Antonelli starts lap 50/57 with the advantage over Norris remaining steady at one second and seven tenths. The standings:

20:24 – Verstappen can do nothing against the McLaren, which compared to Leclerc’s Ferrari also boasts a few km/h more speed: and indeed Oscar Piastri goes away, already on the straight before turn 17.

20:23 – So Piastri is now glued to Max trying to snatch fourth place, while Antonelli complains via radio that the gear shifts are not working well. And indeed in the last lap he lost half a second, with Norris closing back to 1.7 gap.

20:21 – Max Verstappen is a dog that doesn’t give up an inch! Leclerc passes the Dutchman at turn 1, but then Max uses all the boost in the first sector’s snake managing to put the nose in front again! Leclerc however has a bit more battery on the next straight and takes back third place again. Meanwhile Piastri has already closed in.

20:20 – Antonelli is informed of being at two track limits and so Bono tells him: “Ok, no more infractions, Kimi“. Leclerc is within half a second of Verstappen, who could fiercely defend the chance to get on his first podium of the season.

20:19 – Norris loses a bit more ground to Antonelli, who now has a 2-second margin. Lando however complains about the rival’s driving: “Watch the track limits, it’s already the second time in a few laps that he goes beyond“.

20:18 – Leclerc is now in the slipstream of Max Verstappen, with the gap dropping below one second certifying the possibility to use the overtake mode button. The standings at lap 45/57:

20:16 – Antonelli starts lap 44 with a one and a half second advantage over Norris who has started to lose a bit in the last two-three laps. Meanwhile Piastri is informed via radio that Leclerc will catch Verstappen in about three laps and that the situation will be “tasty” for them. Oscar is 3.7 seconds behind Leclerc, but could certainly gain quickly if the fight for third place heats up.

20:15 – “I’m sliding on four tires a bit everywhere, it’s terrible“, says George Russell via radio, who is there in no man’s land, in sixth place ahead of only Hamilton among the top drivers.

20:13 – Verstappen is now a bit falling off the pace: in the last lap Max lost a second to Leclerc, who brings the gap to 3.5 seconds. At this point the Monegasque is back in the race at least for third place to which he has been somewhat subscribed since the start of this year.

20:11 – Norris is still very close to Antonelli, and in fact now he has recovered two of the three tenths lost in the last lap. A chess game between the two.

20:10 – The standings as we have just entered lap 40/57, with Antonelli managing to respond to Norris gaining three tenths in the last lap:

20:08 – Norris tries to show himself at the end of the straight, but it’s clear that compared to the overtakes on Leclerc, the engine deficit compared to Antonelli is not there. Meanwhile Leclerc is 5.9 from Verstappen, with Max holding well on the pace despite the Hards being 15 laps older than those of the Ferrari driver.

20:06 – Piastri has finally managed to shake off Russell, who now has more than a second gap and therefore can no longer use the “overtake” button. Meanwhile Antonelli complains via radio: “My rears are gone”, but Bono tells him via radio that it’s not a wear issue but overheating of the tires. Norris however is hunting, only 7 tenths from the Italian.

20:05 – Piastri overtakes Russell again, this time towards turn 17. Watch out now for Lando Norris who sets the fastest lap of the race and gets to 8 tenths from Antonelli. Verstappen is comfortably third, with a 6.5 second advantage over a Leclerc who however gains 4 or 5 tenths per lap on him.

20:04 – Russell tries again with the yo-yo and gets ahead of Piastri, braking at the end of the straight towards turn 11. Meanwhile Leclerc has escaped: Russell and Piastri have almost five seconds gap from the Ferrari driver who was there with them until a few laps ago.

20:03 – Piastri passes Russell, who slips to sixth place: the standings as we are in lap 35/57:

20:02 – Leclerc is warned that a downpour is now expected in 10 or 15 laps.

20:01 – There is a Drive Through for Valtteri Bottas, guilty of exceeding the pit-lane speed limit. The Finnish driver is last and lapped. We are in lap 34/57 and in the end the rain seems not to arrive.

19:59 – Now Russell has to deal also with Piastri, who is glued to the rear of his Mercedes. Not a perfect moment either for Antonelli, with Norris 1.1 seconds behind.

19:58 – And while Antonelli takes the lead of the race and tries to escape from Norris, Russell just can’t resist the attacks of Charles Leclerc! The Monegasque passes the Englishman relegating him to fifth position and chasing Verstappen who however has an 8-second advantage.

19:57 – Standings at lap 30/57 as the battle between Leclerc and Russell for fifth place heats up:

19:56 – Verstappen does not intend to give up even an inch despite Hards being 20 laps older than rivals! Norris attacks the Dutchman on the straight before turn 17, but then Max pulls a super late braking to try to stay ahead: Lando, however, used the crossing of trajectories to stay in second place and chase Antonelli again.

19:55 – Antonelli attacks Verstappen and manages to pass the Red Bull friend-rival braking towards turn 11. Max instead defends from Norris and is second. Piastri has stopped, but the Australian returned to the track only seventh, between Leclerc and Hamilton.

19:54 – Moment of great chaos on track with the leaders’ pit stops: Antonelli took advantage of the slightly warmer tires to overtake Norris becoming the virtual leader of the race. Ahead of Kimi there is Max Verstappen and also Oscar Piastri, who is the only big one who still has to stop at the pits.

19:53 – Pit stop for Norris and Hamilton, with Antonelli failing to overtake Lando by a few centimeters with the undercut!

19:52 – Andrea Kimi Antonelli stops to mount new Hards, so the two McLarens are leading the race.

19:51 – Max Verstappen passes Lewis Hamilton and takes the position from the Ferrari driver. Remember that the Dutchman has already made his mandatory pit stop.

19:50 – From helicopter images it is clearly seen that less than a km from the circuit it is raining and with some insistence. We are in lap 26/57.

19:49 – Standings at lap 25/57.

19:48 – Meanwhile Max Verstappen is fifth and is catching Lewis Hamilton. The leader Norris via radio starts to feel some raindrops on his visor.

19:47 – We still don’t see it from the cameras, but for now many engineers are telling their drivers that light rain has already arrived in some corners. Indeed there are very dark clouds approaching the track.

19:45 – Charles is very angry: “Next time you make a decision let me know. I’m here too“. Russell and Leclerc overtake Bearman and are now chasing Albon’s eighth place.

19:44 – Leclerc is not happy with the strategy: “Why did we stop? When is the rain expected?“. Both Charles and Russell have meanwhile overtaken Esteban Ocon, who is still on track with the Mediums from the start of the race.

19:43 – Antonelli is now informed that very light rain is arriving at turns 7 and 8, the same where Leclerc almost crashed a few moments ago.

19:42 – Pit stops begin! George Russell stops to mount Hards and now, at lap 22/57, Charles Leclerc also stops, but returns to the track behind the English Mercedes driver.

19:41 – Meanwhile the broadcast shows us a replay of what happened to Leclerc, explaining why Charles lost contact from Antonelli losing position to Piastri (only to regain it a few meters later): Charles had oversteer at turn 7 and seriously risked parking his SF-26 against the wall. Then the Ferrari driver played a joker managing to avoid the barriers by a few centimeters.

19:40 – Standings as we have just entered lap 20/57. Meanwhile the investigation on Verstappen for running over the white line is postponed to the end of the race.

19:39 – Not everyone agrees on the imminent arrival of rain: McLaren is actually asking Norris to extend the stint because a heavier downpour could arrive around lap 40.

19:38 – We are almost there, maybe: rain expected in the next two or three laps, with Perez’s race engineer asking the driver to “survive” this downpour.

19:37 – Verstappen also takes eighth place from Sainz, who after the first laps complained via radio about his very aggressive maneuvers: “He feels he can do whatever he wants just because he’s fighting here in the midfield“.

19:36 – Ferrari is struggling: Leclerc loses position also to Piastri, although before turn 11 the Monegasque manages to regain third place with the usual yo-yo. The engine deficit in the race seems much more pronounced than it was yesterday during the Sprint Race.

19:35 – Verstappen was “noticed” for touching the white line exiting the pits. Meanwhile the Dutchman attacks Albon for ninth place, with very aggressive and late braking: now Max is ninth after a few meters of wheel-to-wheel with the former teammate.

19:34 – Leclerc is now a bit struggling: the Ferrari driver is more than a second behind Antonelli and has Piastri under one second. Which means now the Australian will be able to use the overtake mode to attack Charles.

19:33 – Meanwhile George Russell complained a lot via radio: “We were on the wrong engine strategy guys! Be careful with these things!“, says the Englishman, who is now fifth behind Piastri.

19:32 – Standings during lap 15/57:

19:31 – This second position is not to be had: again on the straight between turns 10 and 11 Leclerc suffers too much top speed difference from the Mercedes-powered cars, and Kimi this time goes with a nice late braking that prevents Charles from responding.

19:30 – Nice race up front, because Leclerc is not letting himself get out of turn 17 better and manages to regain second place from Kimi, while Norris thanks and tries to gain a bit.

19:29 – Norris doesn’t want to waste time and immediately attacks Charles Leclerc! The English McLaren driver attacks on the straight before turn 11 and overtakes the Ferrari Monegasque. Not a good moment for the Ferrari driver, who is also passed by Antonelli at turn 17!

19:28 – Norris is very close to Leclerc, but for now the Monegasque does not have to make defensive maneuvers. Hamilton is half a second behind Russell but has damage to the wing and floor, which should make him lose about three tenths per lap, according to Ferrari box estimates.

19:26 – Green flags and we go! Good start from Leclerc, while once again – it already happened in Suzuka – some difficulties for Russell, who loses position to Piastri and is also attacked by Hamilton, who however has to queue behind.

19:25 – The Safety Car will return to the pits at the end of this lap: soon we restart with Charles Leclerc leading ahead of Norris and Antonelli.

19:24 – The Safety Car continues, while we listen to the team radio for Oscar Piastri: Tom Stallard tells him from the wall that a brief downpour is expected around lap 25 (we are in lap 11): “It could also be heavy rain, but it will last a short time“.

19:23 – Standings as we are in lap 10/57:

19:21 – Arvid Lindblad is now informed by his wall: “The rain should arrive in about twenty minutes“.

19:18 – Max Verstappen and Valtteri Bottas are the only ones who stopped under Safety Car conditions. The Dutch driver mounted Hards to try to do something different from the others, now hoping that the rain delays by half an hour.

19:17 – Liam Lawson also stopped at the pits to retire from the race, while Nico Hulkenberg is going very slowly with his Audi: more problems for the German? If so, it would be a weekend to forget for Mattia Binotto’s team.

19:16 – In all this, a few moments before the Safety Car, Lando Norris had managed to attack Kimi Antonelli, taking second place. So we have the reigning world champion in second place, behind Leclerc, with Kimi third ahead of Russell and Piastri.

19:14 – These are two different accidents: Hadjar did everything alone, hitting the wall with the left front at the entrance of the second sector chicane, breaking the suspension and then losing his head a bit, punching the steering wheel and helmet; Gasly instead took off and flipped after contact with Lawson, who is still regularly in the race (and will probably get a penalty).

19:13 – Accident for Isack Hadjar, who crashed into the wall. There is also an accident with Pierre Gasly, who took off against the barriers at turn 17. Safety Car on track.

19:12 – Leclerc however has more energy in the second sector and, with the usual yo-yo move, retakes the lead. So Charles is again leading the race, but now watch out for Antonelli’s response and also Lando Norris, who is behind the first two and is invited by the box to be patient.

19:11 – Standings as we have just entered lap 5/57.

19:10 – A bit like seen yesterday at the start of the Sprint Race, we have a very very aggressive Kimi Antonelli on Charles Leclerc! And indeed the Italian attacks at turn 17 and retakes the lead of the race.

19:08 – Really remarkable Leclerc’s maneuver at the start: the Monegasque understood that both Verstappen and Antonelli were long and therefore braked early avoiding contacts, while then Verstappen spun alone at turn 2.

19:07 – So lap 3 begins with Leclerc having a one-second advantage over Antonelli, followed by Norris and Russell, who overtook Oscar Piastri at turn 1. Lewis Hamilton is sixth but has damage to the front wing after contact with Colapinto at turn 11 on the first lap: the contact between the two was “noticed” by Race Direction.

19:06 – Definitely chaotic race start with Max Verstappen now furious and trying to recover as if every lap was the last. The Dutchman passed Gasly first with a mega late braking at turn 11 and then also Albon at turn 17. Now the four-time world champion is eighth, after Liam Lawson also blatantly gave way to let him pass.

19:05 – So we have Leclerc leading the race with a one-second margin over Antonelli, then Norris and Piastri. Max Verstappen had a problem after turn 1, sliding to ninth position, while Hamilton had contact with Franco Colapinto and is now in sixth place.

19:04 – The five red lights go out and… The 2026 Miami Grand Prix starts! Great start from Charles Leclerc who manages to exit turn 1 as race leader, while both Verstappen and Antonelli locked their tires at the first braking going long!

19:00 – Green lights and the formation lap of the 2026 Miami GP of Formula 1 starts! In three-four minutes finally the start.

18:58 – We are almost there! Two minutes to the start of the formation lap, then the lights go out for the 2026 Miami GP, the fourth round of the season.

18:56 – Spoiler: no! On the contrary, the fear of rain arrival without certainty on “when” flattens the teams’ strategic choices. Everyone, absolutely everyone, starts on new Medium tires.

18:54 – Very soon we will know the starting tires for the 57 laps race in Miami. Will someone dare the Softs to bet everything on a flying start and a quick rain arrival?

18:50 – Ten minutes to the start of the formation lap and still no rain in sight. On the contrary, the sky is cloudy but not very dark, indicating the possibility of a decent dry race window after the lights go out.

18:47 – Not only sportsmen and TV personalities, but also great Hollywood actors: on the grid briefly framed Patrick Dempsey and Colin Farrell.

18:44 – The solemn performance of the United States national anthem begins, sung by the very young singer Alexandria Arango, traditionally a cappella and without background music.

18:40 – Obviously, since we are in the United States, the VIPs on the grid are countless: there is John Elkann with Ferrari CEO Benedetto Vigna, but also comedian and TV presenter Jimmy Fallon (who bit the Sky UK microphone of Martin Brundle), former tennis player Rafael Nadal and the already mentioned Leo Messi.

18:37 – It was not expected but, since the track is currently dry and seems to remain so for a while, here are the possible strategies according to Pirelli: It will be a one-stop race, with Medium-Hard, Medium-Soft or Soft-Hard. Considering the expected wet, it can be expected that many will start on Mediums to have at least twenty laps before having to pit for tire change.

18:33 – The pit lane has been officially closed and this means that drivers can no longer return to the pits for another start test – not very good those tested by poleman Kimi Antonelli, to be honest – but are forced to drive slowly on the grid and then stop, pushed by mechanics, in the spot earned yesterday in qualifying.

18:30 – Let’s take a look at the weather forecast: the latest, most updated ones, give rain arriving at 13:15 local time, 19:15 in Italy. So, if so, we should have a start and a first ten laps in dry track conditions, before the rain arrives.

18:28 – A few minutes ago, in the pit lane, there was a meeting between probably the most famous Argentine sportsmen currently active in the world: Leo Messi with Franco Colapinto.

18:25 – Drivers are already on track at the Miami circuit, which we confirm is completely dry, without wet patches even off the racing line. In 35 minutes the formation lap start, in five the pit lane will be closed and drivers will have to be lined up on the grid.

18:20 – 40 minutes to the start of the Miami GP formation lap and there are already some F1 cars lined up in front of the pit exit waiting for the green light. The procedure for the grid formation laps therefore starts normally, and with dry tires.

18:15 – We also recall that FIA Race Direction yesterday declared the Rain Hazard protocol for the first time in history. But what does it mean? In short, it means that teams can perform limited interventions on the cars, but acting on setup parameters that would normally be locked by parc fermé rules (mainly ride heights and front wing angle). 18:10 – At the moment the sky above the Miami International Autodrome is covered by a rather thick layer of clouds, announcing the return of rain. The asphalt is dry though: if the race started in five minutes, the cars would undoubtedly start on slick tires.

18:05 – So, how are the conditions in Miami? In the morning, as you see from the cover photo, it poured and the track was flooded, at least unusable. Then, however, the rain stopped and the asphalt gradually dried during the Formula 2 race, won by the Italian Gabriele Minì, in his first victory among the juniors.

18:00 – Good afternoon to all of you, dear readers of FP! We are live, well ahead of the race start time, which is scheduled for 19:00 (until proven otherwise), to follow with you the evolution of the weather conditions.

Good evening to all of you, dear readers of FormulaPassion.it. We are live to tell you about the race, the decisive moment of the GP Miami F1 weekend, which will start at 19:00 Italian time and should end, barring interruptions, around 20:30, after the drivers have completed the 57 laps scheduled at the Miami International Autodrome. The conditional is however more than necessary, given the choice of the organizers, together with FIA and Formula 1, to bring forward the start by three hours to avoid the thunderstorms that will hit Florida in mid-afternoon. The unstable weather will still be a factor, because it already rained quite heavily in the morning and it is not excluded that bad weather will affect the GP despite the revised time.

Starting ahead of everyone is however Andrea Kimi Antonelli, at his third consecutive pole position just as it seemed that for Mercedes it would be a defensive weekend. Next to him a revived Max Verstappen with a growing Red Bull, with Charles Leclerc and Lando Norris on the second row, hoping that the statistic that no one has ever won in Miami starting from the front row will repeat itself.
