MotoGP Mugello, the Sprint report
Perfect in execution, perfect in choices, perfect in timing. Raul Fernandez wins the Mugello Sprint with a masterful performance, leading from turn 1, ahead of Jorge Martin and Fabio Di Giannantonio. Decisive for the Spaniard was the gamble on the medium rear tire (the same as Martinator) which allowed him to be incisive in all phases of the race, including the start. Thus, the first Sprint victory arrives in Tuscany, a very important result also in market terms, as it increases his chances of staying with the Trackhouse team.

Fernandez, the 11th MotoGP rider to win a Sprint, shows great maturity and does not make the slightest mistake even under the pressure of a shark like #89. For Aprilia, it is not a hat-trick only thanks to a Di Giannantonio who made a great start, while the same cannot be said for Marco Bezzecchi: slowed down in the first corners, the Romagna rider finishes fourth and limits the damage in the standings; the gap to Martin is now 12 points.
At Ducati, today’s qualifying weighs heavily: the rider with the most pace is Di Giannantonio, but starting seventh it will not be easy even tomorrow; Marc Marquez tries (and is ahead of everyone at turn 1) but it is clear that the world champion cannot ask much more from his right arm. He is still fifth ahead of Fermin Aldeguer and Francesco Bagnaia, today among the most disappointing (he was out of the top 10 for a long time). Worth noting is the performance of Diogo Moreira, who after the first corners was third but then paid for a slower pace, points also for Ai Ogura and Pedro Acosta.
