Gasly, a dream shattered in Monaco

In the crazy Monaco GP, there was also someone who celebrated a never-before-achieved result. This is the case of Pierre Gasly, who finished third at the checkered flag but was relegated to seventh position for exceeding the pit lane speed limits twice.

After crossing the GP finish line and exclaiming “P3, P3!” over the radio, the French driver visibly celebrated with a clenched fist throughout the honor lap. Strangely, the race engineer had not communicated the two five-second penalties on the race time to #10.

Meanwhile, Alpine has decided to exercise its right of review against the penalty, as it believes the penalties are unfounded. For the French team, it would be a return to the podium: the last ones came in the 2024 São Paulo GP, when Gasly himself and Esteban Ocon finished in the top-3 alongside Max Verstappen, who delivered yet another masterpiece in the wet.
