Toto Wolff in the post-race of the Belgian GP won by Mercedes with Andrea Kimi Antonelli to the microphones of F1 TV said that Mercedes “Has the most powerful engine”, a thesis further confirmed by the results emerged on track since the Australian GP, results however insufficient to elect the Mercedes thermal engine as the best on the grid.

According to the FIA it was Red Bull that won a race that no one wanted to win and now on the Ford-Red Bull axis they have to wait for Mercedes to decide to update the thermal engine thus surpassing the performance of the engine made in Milton Keynes.

Obviously the ADUO only takes into consideration the ICE, the thermal engine, and Toto Wolff was referring to the complete package between thermal component and hybrid component.

To the microphones of Sky Sports UK, in fact, expressing the same concept Wolff has already used the definition power unit instead of ‘engine’, meaning engine in a broad sense among all its components put together and not only the one subject to FIA checks to establish the ADUO ranking.
