One in two million: a BMW i5 M60 xDrive sedan in Tanzanite Blue, assembled at the Dingolfing plant, represents the two millionth fully electric vehicle produced by the BMW Group. The milestone highlights the company’s acceleration towards electrification and the maturity achieved in the industrial-scale production of BEVs. The celebratory vehicle will be delivered to a customer in Spain, thus turning a global production achievement into a tangible moment for everyday mobility.

BMW, record EV production
Dingolfing is the industrial heart of this journey. The site started serial production of fully electric vehicles in 2021 with the iX and today produces one of the widest ranges of BEV models in the group: BMW iX, BMW i5 (sedan and Touring) and BMW i7. Since 2021, more than 320,000 electric vehicles have already been produced at the Lower Bavaria production hub. Translated: almost one in six of the group’s two million total BEVs comes from Dingolfing. In 2025, moreover, more than a quarter of the vehicles leaving the plant were fully electric.
Dingolfing at the center of everything
This result is also the fruit of an industrial strategy oriented towards flexibility. Within the BMW iFACTORY, the German group maintains a technologically open approach: cars with different types of propulsion are produced flexibly and also in mixed configurations on the same line. For several years now, at least one fully electric model has come off the line at every German plant of the company, making electric mobility the new normal throughout the production network. In this way, the giant significantly contributes to strengthening Germany as the second largest global production hub for electric cars.
