Sky: Brivio towards Honda, will be HRC super consultant

Heated market

The MotoGP market for 2027 is heating up. Not so much regarding the riders, since from that point of view, although official announcements are missing, many transfers have already been defined, but this time from a managerial perspective.

The intriguing scenario for next year was launched by the journalist and commentator of Sky Sport MotoGP Rosario Triolo, who at the end of the Le Mans Sprint race hypothesized a sensational team change: the current team principal of Aprilia’s customer team, Trackhouse, Davide Brivio would in fact be destined to move to the Honda HRC factory team with a role of super consultant.

A top role

Brivio would not take the place of the current team manager Alberto Puig but would assist him and indeed would probably have a ‘rank’ higher than the Spaniard, acting as a sort of liaison between the team and ownership. This is a role that, although with different characteristics, Brivio had already held for one season in Formula 1 with Alpine. In that case, however, his ability to influence was minimal.

If this deal actually goes through, it would be a really significant coup for Honda: Brivio is indeed one of the most appreciated and successful managers in the MotoGP paddock. He has already brought Yamaha to success in the Valentino Rossi era and then with Jorge Lorenzo, and Suzuki, winning the 2020 World Championship with Joan Mir, as well as leading Trackhouse to excellent results in recent seasons.

Honda rebirth

His arrival at Honda could represent the final piece of a new organization that would aim – taking advantage of the new technical regulations to be introduced next year and with Fabio Quartararo as the lead rider – at a definitive return to the top of the category. In the coming days and weeks, we will know more.
