Only six months have passed since the presentation of the second generation of the iX3 by BMW and the commercial success is already evident. The demand has in fact forced the German brand to establish a second shift at the Debrecen plant, in Hungary, where the model is produced. During the latest earnings report, CEO Oliver Zipse emphasized that production is accelerating and that the first deliveries in Europe have just begun.

BMW iX3 is racking up orders
Orders, he explained, are full and extend until the end of this year, testifying to the interest from both private customers and corporate fleets. The most significant figure revealed by Zipse is that over 50.000 orders have been registered for the new iX3, an important result for the launch of the second generation of a BMW electric model. The Debrecen plant, once it reaches full capacity, will be able to produce up to 150.000 vehicles per year. Although, Carscoops reports, to meet global demand BMW intends to diversify production with plants also in China and Mexico.

Expanding range
This production strategy will allow for reduced delivery times and align the offer with the demands of various international markets. The demand is made even more surprising by the fact that at the moment the offer includes only one version, the iX3 50 xDrive. It is equipped with a 108 kWh battery, which we also recently road-tested. In the future the range will expand with more accessible 40 and 40 xDrive versions equipped with smaller battery packs and on sale at lower prices, while the M60 model is expected at the top. According to rumors, towards the end of 2027 an M variant with over 800 hp could also arrive.
