This new electric car emerged in a preview through images published by China’s Ministry of Industry and Information Technology, and anticipates the official presentation scheduled for the end of the year. With compact dimensions of 4.2 meters in length, 1.8 meters in width, and 1.6 meters in height, this hatchback is positioned in the C-segment and competes with established rivals such as the Cupra Born, Renault Megane E-Tech, and MG 4 EV.

New Leapmotor A05
The design recalls the B03X crossover shown by Leapmotor last year. It stands out for its tapered headlights and a squared-off rear, suggesting an aesthetic language consistent with the rest of the range. From a technical point of view, the documentation reveals a choice focused on simplicity and efficiency: the A05 will have a single front motor available in two power levels (94 or 121 hp) and will offer two lithium-iron-phosphate battery options, the capacity of which has not yet been disclosed. The goal of the Chinese manufacturer is to contain costs while maintaining range and performance suitable for daily urban and extra-urban use.

The rival to the Volkswagen ID.3 is coming
The A05 is part of the brand’s aggressive expansion strategy in Europe, where Leapmotor intends to rapidly expand its range to capture significant market shares. Speaking to Autocar, Leapmotor UK CEO Damien Dally emphasized that the speed of expanding the offering will be crucial to consolidating the brand’s position.
