From the last podium to today
Just under a year later, Enea Bastianini returned to the Barcelona circuit, the same where the Tech3 team rider achieved his last MotoGP podium, as well as his first and only on the KTM (excluding two top 3 finishes in Sprint races): “It was a very good race, the bike worked very well, but it was also my last MotoGP podium – recalled ‘La Bestia’ – actually, this year we should be in an even better position, but making predictions is still very difficult. Much has changed since then: practically every race is completely different. This is the first time I’m using the new fairing; it will be interesting to see how the update performs.”

A decision soon
The 28-year-old from Rimini spoke about his result in Barcelona, without committing to potential outcomes this year, but there were also considerations about the question marks related to his future in MotoGP. The 2020 Moto2 world champion could continue his experience with Tech3, but negotiations remain open for a possible return to Gresini in 2027: “The situation is not easy, naturally also due to the new regulations for 2027 – he continued – at this moment, it is not easy for riders to understand what the bikes will be like and which bike will be at the top. Ideally, I would like to continue with an official contract and a competitive bike, but ultimately, the most important thing for a rider is to have a package that really makes him fast. However, I have to make a decision, and it should be very soon“.

It is also worth noting that Bastianini’s contract situation is no longer managed by Carlo Pernat, the former manager of the Rimini rider who ended the partnership with the rider by mutual agreement at the end of 2025 for health reasons. Negotiations are now handled by the MSM agency.
