Two red flags, as many riders in hospital, but it could have gone much worse. This is the thought of Francesco Bagnaia who commented on a nightmare Sunday in Barcelona, a Sunday that fortunately goes down in the books without too many consequences.

“I feel nauseous and dizzy – Bagnaia’s words at the end of the race – the impact I had was hard, but I was lucky, we were all lucky today, these are days when you just have to say thank you to those who saved us all. It was an intense day, looking at what happened to Alex Marquez I want to send him and his family my best wishes for a speedy recovery.”

The trauma was ‘total’, both physical and emotional once I understood what had happened. In ‘Race-3’ after three laps I started to feel dizzy under braking and to feel unwell. I just tried to survive and bring the bike to the finish line. I feel I don’t deserve the podium, but my team does because they are working hard.”
