Dramatic Sunday in Barcelona

Nightmare Sunday in Barcelona. During the GP, two red flags were necessary for two crashes that took out Alex Marquez and Johann Zarco. The French rider made a braking mistake on the second start and hit Luca Marini and Francesco Bagnaia who were ahead of him.

Zarco’s leg remained tangled in the rear area of Bagnaia’s bike, but as the Frenchman himself pointed out, the medical bulletin – as in the case of Alex Marquez – could have been much more serious.

Luca Marini commented on the incident to Sky: “What a difficult day, first of all I want to wish a speedy recovery to both Alex and Johann – said the Honda rider – I saw Johann, I was there, I feel very sorry for him, the leg was in very bad shape, I immediately had a flashback of my accident in Suzuka last year because I felt he was in a lot of pain, with Pecco we were trying to help him somehow, but in the end it was better not to touch anything because we didn’t know how to intervene. Fortunately, the doctors arrived immediately, the ambulance arrived immediately, so I hope the pain lasted as little as possible. I felt very involved in this incident because I was there and because it reminded me exactly of what I went through in Japan.”
