McNish’s Debut
Following the official announcement a few days ago, this weekend will truly mark the beginning of a new adventure for Allan McNish, three-time winner of the 24 Hours of Le Mans and already head of the Audi Driver Development Programme who will be on track as the new Racing Director of the German team. McNish will effectively take Jonathan Wheatley’s place and will essentially be Mattia Binotto’s deputy, who formally remains the team principal.
“After a few weeks off, during which everyone worked hard, Miami represents an opportunity to understand where we stand compared to our rivals – commented McNish, presenting the Florida weekend – we have analyzed all the data from the first races in detail and focused on the areas that can make a difference. The goal is to put what we have learned into practice and consolidate what we have seen so far, especially in the Sprint where everything is more compressed and the margins for error are reduced. This weekend, of course, is also a moment of great pride for me, as I take on this new role within the team. I have been part of this journey in various ways over the past few years and I look forward to starting this new chapter as we continue to develop our project”.
The Drivers’ Words
Naturally, the two drivers also spoke, Gabriel Bortoleto and Nico Hulkenberg, ready to return to the track after the long break. “It’s good to be back – commented the German veteran – the break allowed us to analyze the first three races and understand where we are and what we need to improve, especially regarding the preparation for a complete weekend. Now it’s about putting what we’ve learned into practice. Miami is always an exciting challenge, with a unique atmosphere and energy, and it’s another Sprint weekend, which means every session is crucial. The goal is to put things together quickly and give ourselves a real chance to fight for points”.

“These weeks without races have been useful for recharging after an intense start to the season – observed Gabriel Bortoleto – I had the opportunity to spend more time both in Hinwil and Neuburg, working with the team and finding new ways to improve. It was useful, but now I can’t wait to get back in the car. I really enjoyed Miami last year, it’s a truly unique event with the circuit around the stadium, an impressive paddock and everything that goes on around it, so it’s a fantastic place to race. The goal is to put everything together as best as possible during the weekend, make the most of the single free practice session and be in a good position from the start”.
