Antonelli warns Mercedes: watch out for Ferrari
The Silverstone GP left some residue at Mercedes, and not just because of the disappointment of seeing Kimi Antonelli still off the podium after showing a pace worthy of the leader. After the events at Montmeló, Silverstone confirmed to the Brackley team that they cannot afford to lower their guard in the title race, because Ferrari is ready to strike and knows how to do it even on a track that theoretically disadvantages them.

With a solid and improving Red car, reliability is one of the central themes for Mercedes. Antonelli is aware that in such a competitive season every detail can make a difference, and for this reason the Bolognese praised the team’s work, which has already reinforced the wheel shield that failed him at Silverstone.
Antonelli’s words
“We know we cannot relax at all, also because Ferrari is very solid. Maybe in terms of pace they lack a bit compared to us, but their car is solid and has had no problems so far. So even for the Constructors we have to try to do everything possible to gain as many points as possible at every opportunity, while as a team we have to try to solve these problems because Ferrari is much closer than it seems“, these are Antonelli’s words collected by our correspondent at Spa Carlo Platella.

“I know they are working very hard, they reinforced the part that broke on me at Silverstone, I am sure they are doing their best to make sure these problems do not happen again“, he added. “As a driver you are aware that mishaps happen. If they don’t, it’s better, but they can happen and for this it is very important to take advantage of every opportunity that comes your way. Also because the situation can turn around in an instant, I found myself going from having a 70-point lead to having 25, probably losing 43 points in two races. Even though we were the fastest, the two zeros completely changed the situation“.
