Lewis Hamilton wants to continue at Spa-Francorchamps the good form that has brought him three podium finishes – including the historic victory in Barcelona – in the last four races. “On this track [the comparison with Mercedes] is very difficult – admitted Hamilton at the Belgian media day – this track is full of straights. We went to Silverstone and thought we would need much more power. We were fast in corners, so it went much better than we expected. We come back here without really knowing what to expect, except that the track is made up of about 50% straights. I think there was still a gap of about 3-4 tenths in the last race [between Ferrari and Mercedes]. I expected it to be a bit more, but we are doing everything possible“.

Ferrari strategy approved
However, Hamilton has shown that he greatly appreciates the team’s work and Ferrari’s upgrade philosophy, which favors many small updates over a single ‘revolutionary’ package. “In terms of upgrades, I am very proud of the team – declared the #44 from Maranello – we keep pushing to optimize the car. We are making small changes every week and it’s great to see. Instead of an upgrade that arrives several months later, it’s as if every weekend we improve small details every time we find something“.
