Diogo’s show even though in the end no points come
Without Johann Zarco, Lucio Cecchinello’s LCR Honda team was still able to dream for several laps in the Sprint of the Italian GP at Mugello. Thanks to Diogo Moreira, who started very well from the third row, even managing to settle in third position after the winning attack against Marc Marquez during the first lap.
“I started well and I was behind Marc, I told myself ‘when he brakes I brake too‘ – Moreira’s account after the race – then I attacked him and tried to resist as much as possible, but I asked too much from the front tire and at the end I dropped a lot. Today I learned a lot because I fought and was behind the top riders of the category, I was able to study their lines, when they brake, how they stop the bike. Tomorrow I will try to be gentler with the tires, but today once I found myself in front I tried to stay there as long as possible.”
The Barcelona test was fundamental for the Brazilian rider: “We did not introduce new parts on the bike in terms of components, but we had time to work on the setup and this helped me a lot in the time-attack. It is logical that the more you start in front the easier it is to aim for good results.”
