Desire to win
Fabio Di Giannantonio believes it, and rightly so. Amid the general caution spreading regarding the expectations for tomorrow’s race here at Mugello, the Roman from VR46 sounds the charge, tries to excite the fans and above all does not hide: “Obviously as an Italian, in an Italian team, on an Italian bike, I would like to win here at Mugello – commented fearlessly the #49, author today of a nice Sprint, lived entirely in comeback and closed with a splendid third place – obviously this possibility got a bit complicated after qualifying, starting seventh. But we have to believe. I want to try to really make a good race, to have fun“. But Di Giannantonio did not stop there and did another thing that almost no rider openly does anymore. Talking about the title race: “We are also fighting for the World Championship, so as Italians we have to push all together“.

“We made some changes to improve the bike with a race perspective – explained Di Giannantonio, analyzing a day that he experienced lows (qualifying) and highs (the Sprint) – but since yesterday the track activity for me has been really little. Yesterday I was feeling bad, we ran very little and this morning we had a problem, as you all saw, so we didn’t run at all. These changes in my opinion were a bit harmful for qualifying, but above all my mistake was positioning myself badly on the track trying to do a clean lap: there was too much traffic and so I couldn’t do my best“.
Finally, Di Giannantonio made an interesting statement: questioned on the subject he named the GP26 as the best Ducati he has ever ridden during his adventure as a Borgo Panigale rider: “Surely it is the most performing bike. In the end overall I have to say yes, it is the most consistent bike and it is the best bike I have ridden so far“. After many controversies and debates about the various versions of the Desmosedici, this time Borgo Panigale will be thankful.
