Zarco explains the shocking crash
The just concluded weekend was very complex for MotoGP, which breathed two huge sighs of relief after the serious accidents involving Alex Marquez and Johann Zarco. Both got off very well considering the dynamics that involved them: of course, they will miss at least Mugello, but injuries and bruises are almost negligible compared to what could have happened.

Between the two hospital stays, Zarco’s seems to be the longer one, examined today by Dr. Sonnery-Cottet. The Frenchman will undergo surgery in at least two weeks and only afterwards will he be able to think about rehabilitation and recovery. Now he must rest, waiting for the initial trauma to heal, and for the first time he returned to the Barcelona accident.
Zarco’s words
“Already in the accident between Alex and Pedro I hit a debris with my left foot. When I stopped at the pits, I had a sharp pain. I took off the boot along with the helmet, the foot was already purple. We put some ice and the pain eased a bit, but already there I should have made the decision to stop“, this was the comment to L’Équipe. “Between the images of Alex’s accident and that hit to the foot, I got demoralized. I was no longer focused when we returned to the grid“.

“At the second start I was sucked in by Marini’s slipstream and I couldn’t avoid him, my left leg got trapped between the wheel, the seat, and the exhaust. I was stuck in the gravel, shouting in pain and the leg started burning“, he added. “Everyone around me didn’t dare to touch me for fear of worsening my injuries. So I pulled my leg and in the end they helped me. They immobilized me, cut my suit and gave me an IV to stop the pain. I had never experienced anything like that and it was really scary“.
