Antonelli and Ferrari, Wolff’s jab
In an interview with the Belgian website Rtbf during the Spa-Francorchamps weekend, Toto Wolff answered a thorny question about a hypothetical future for Andrea Kimi Antonelli at Ferrari.
The Austrian remained composed and even delivered a jab to his rivals.

“We are aware of this possibility,” Wolff stated, adding: “But Kimi has been a Mercedes driver since he was 11 years old. Ferrari should have taken him 6 or 7 years ago, instead of only now realizing they have a good Italian driver. Of course, they will do everything to have an Italian driver.”
The issue of pressure around Kimi
Toto Wolff then spoke about managing the expectations surrounding Antonelli: “His parents are entering a world they don’t know. The Italian media has put a lot of pressure on him, comparing him to Ayrton Senna from the second race. I asked them to calm down a bit because we were talking about a 19-year-old who had won 2 races, not 3 world championships. But Italy is proud to have a young driver. They haven’t had one this competitive for a long time.”

The Austrian manager then hinted that he would not let his guard down: “We must continue to protect Kimi, and that is what we are doing. We are aware that there may be more difficult moments, although there have been none so far.”
