Volvo has presented its first extended-range plug-in hybrid models for the European and American markets. We are talking about new variants of the best-selling SUV models, namely XC60 and XC90. In the first case, the car has undergone a complete restyling and offers an electric mode range at the top of the category up to 200 kilometers on a single charge. In the second, instead, the new version of the crossover reaches up to 160 km.

As explained by the Swedish company itself, the electric range of the mid-size XC60 and the large XC90 is now more than two and a half times greater than the current plug-in hybrid variants. This is made possible by a new battery integrated into the floor, with greater capacity. It also features a more powerful electric motor, which can be paired with the gasoline engine when necessary. Both vehicles, Volvo specified, remain available in the mild-hybrid version as well.
Renewed design and more
As mentioned, the news is also aesthetic. The XC60 now sports a more modern and dynamic look due to a renewed grille and redesigned front bumper, as well as the hood, front fenders, and new wheels. The design of the LED headlights with Matrix technology has been refined. While that of the tailgate, LED rear lights, and rear bumper has been updated. Inside, there is a new design for the dashboard and door panels, along with wood finishes and ventilated nappa leather in Cardamom color.
